Working on this exhibition catalogue proved a great pleasure. Immersion. The Origins: 1949-1969, a major show at MCBA, the Musée cantonal des Beaux-Arts in Lausanne, traced the birth of an immersive art. The urge to go both big and beyond the traditional categories led to the creation of whole environments that filled entire galleries, even outdoor spaces. Audiences found themselves immersed in a 360º view and part of the artwork.
